Ecnec clears nine Rs251bn projects - Newspaper


ISLAMABAD: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) on Thursday approved nine development projects with a total estimated cost of Rs251.31 billion including a major water supply project for Karachi.
The meeting of the newly reconstituted forum was presided over by Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh and attended by ministers for Planning, Industries and Economic Affairs besides advisers to Prime Minister on Commerce, Institutional Reforms and Austerity.
The meeting approved a summary regarding construction of Gwadar-Ratodero Road project (M-8) sponsored by the Ministry of Communication at a rationalised cost of Rs38.026bn.
The committee also approved phase-II of the Pak-China Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) Project for establishment of cross-border OFC network (Khunjerab-Karachi) along CPEC routes at a total cost of Rs37.96bn. ....

ISLAMABAD:
The government on Thursday approved nine mega-development schemes worth Rs251 billion, including an umbrella project worth Rs70 billion to improve its response to the coronavirus pandemic and other calamities.
Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh chaired the meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec), which also approved Rs38 billion Pak-China optical fibre cable scheme for fast communication between the two nations.
The Covid-19 response and other natural calamities control programme were approved by the Ecnec at a cost of Rs70 billion as a federal share, according to the statement issued by the finance ministry. The project includes National Health up-gradation programme, National programme for Water and Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Covid-19 interventions for less developed areas, it ....

Pakistan approves Rs 37.9 billion Pak-China OFC Project Phase II--China Economic Net


 
ISLAMABAD, Jan. 22 (Gwadar Pro) - Pakistan’s key decision-making body, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC), Thursday evening approved Rs 37.9 billion worth Pak-China Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) Project Phase II.
 
Phase-II of the “Pak-China Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) Project for Establishment of Cross-Border OFC Network (Khunjerab-Karachi) Along China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Routes” was approved at the total cost of Rs 37.9 billion. 
 
The project will provide alternate path for international connectivity through Northern Border of Pakistan with China and would transform Pakistan as a Digital Gateway of regional connectivity. 
 
The COVID-19 response and other Natural Calamities Control Program was approved by the ECNEC at the cost of Rs 70 billion as federal share, said the statement.  ....
