Date Time Draft ‘blueprints’ for Shire released for public review Nillumbik Shire Council has released four major draft strategic documents that will guide the future direction of the Shire for the next four years and beyond. The draft Community Vision – Nillumbik 2040, Council Plan 2021-2025, Nillumbik Health and Wellbeing Plan 2021-2025, and Financial Plan 2021-2031 are now available at Participate Nillumbik for the community to review and provide feedback until Thursday 26 August. Councillors endorsed the public exhibition of the four draft plans at Tuesday night’s Council meeting. Mayor Peter Perkins said the strategic documents were developed with the community feedback from the Our People, Our Place, Our Future engagement program in February and March this year. ....
Nillumbik Mayor Peter Perkins said Andrew Park was a popular recreation area. “I thank the Victorian Government and particularly Eltham MP Vicki Ward for their significant financial support of this project,” Cr Perkins said. “With a seniors exercise area, basketball half courts and climbing equipment, we hope this proposed revitalisation provides residents of all ages opportunities to keep active, and improve their health and wellbeing. “The new facilities, toilets, drinking fountain, bicycle repair station and seating will also provide a pleasant rest stop for users of the Diamond Creek Trail. “I encourage park users to take a look at the plans and tell us what you think.” ....

Date Time Amendment C131 to regulate earthworks in Nillumbik’s green wedge Clean fill dumping in the green wedge could soon be regulated if a proposed amendment to the Nillumbik Shire Planning Scheme is successful. At Council’s request, the Victorian Planning Minister has authorised the preparation of Amendment C131Nill to the Planning Scheme to seek to regulate earthworks in the green wedge. There is currently no one provision in Victorian Planning Schemes to regulate the deposit of clean fill on land, particularly in the peri-urban areas of Melbourne. Amendment C131, which applies to the Green Wedge Zone and Rural Conservation Zone, requires a permit for earthworks involving the receipt, importation, stockpiling or placement of more than 100 cubic metres of fill. ....
