LAHORE: Transgender persons in Punjab will now be paid a stipend by the government.
The initiative is part of the provincial government s programme under the Punjab Social Protection Authority.
Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan shared details of the programme for transgender persons in a media talk in Lahore on Thursday.
She was accompanied by Punjab Social Protection Authority Vice Chairperson Jamal Nasir Cheema.
The incumbent government is giving priority to less privileged segments of society in all its projects, said Dr Awan. ....

LAHORE:The Chief Minister s COVID-19 Fund will be used for vaccine procurement while the decision of vaccination to the government employees or only deserving people would be made in the light of the recommendations of the finance and health departments.
These views were expressed by Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht while presiding over the 52nd meeting of the Cabinet Standing Committee on Finance and Development at the Chief Minister s Secretariat here on Wednesday. Other participants in the meeting included Provincial Minister for Industry and Commerce Mian Aslam Iqbal, Advisor to the Chief Minister for Economic Affairs Dr Salman Shah and secretaries of relevant departments. ....

Coronavirus vaccine has been delivered to all 36 districts of Punjab amid strict security arrangements.
The provincial primary and secondary healthcare departments sought cooperation from all relevant agencies for the transportation, storage and management of the vaccine.
According to the health secretary, the high demand for the vaccine and the importance of the exercise for the country prompted the authorities to also make security arrangements to avert any theft or replacement of the consignments, terrorist attack or accident during the transportation. The vaccine was delivered in vehicles having the cold-storage facility under police surveillance. ....
