MARTINS FERRY The city designated Delaware Street a one-way road between South Zane Highway and Vine Street.
This action follows a major waterline replacement project that was completed recently.
Martins Ferry Safety Director Jack Regis Jr. said traffic will be allowed to travel west on Delaware Street from Vine to South Zane only.
Signage is posted designating that section of road as one-way. There also are “do not enter” signs at the Vine Street intersection. Regis said motorists can be fined if they do not heed the signage.
Regis noted that part of Delaware Street was made one-way after he was approached by residents regarding the idea. Since there was parking on one side of the street, there was only room for one car to pass at a time. Sometimes there would be a “standoff” until one car would allow another to go through, he said. ....
