County Fair Continues Through Friday, Virtual Auction Planned
Young people from throughout the county are making their annual trips to the Hill County Fairgrounds this week to participate in the livestock division of the Hill County Fair.
It has been a lighter crowd this year, as the fair is closed to the public and exhibitors are being asked to leave the fairgrounds after their shows due to COVID-19 precautions.
Still, students wore their masks and brought rabbits, chickens, cattle, lambs and goats to show earlier this week. Today (Thursday, January 28) the swine show is scheduled for 2 p.m., and ag mechanics entries will move in from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. ....

While the Hill County Fair will not be open to the public this year, young people will still have a chance to show their animals when the livestock division gets underway today (Monday, January 25), and spectators will have an opportunity to view events online.
Arm bands to allow entry to the fairgrounds for exhibitors and guests were distributed last week, and fair officials released more information about this year s fair.
Each show will be live streamed this year at www.stockshowwebcast.com and goldbucklemedia.net.
Fair officials also announced last week that no one is permitted to come in the night before to prepare stalls or pens for the next day. Gates will open for entry each day as listed on the official schedule. ....

The Livestock Division of the Hill County Fair will get underway Monday, January 25, at the Hill County Fairgrounds in Hillsboro.
The Creative Arts Division of the fair has been canceled this year due to COVID-19 concerns, but the Livestock Division will proceed with alterations, including a virtual livestock auction and events more spread out to prevent large crowds.
Fair officials recently announced that each exhibitor will receive an armband for entry this year, along with three additional armbands for family members. Ag teachers, agents and approved volunteers assisting with the shows will also receive armbands for their shows. ....

Hillsboro ISD To Hold Creative Arts Fair, Registration Now Open
With the Hill County Fair s Creative Arts Division canceled this year, Hillsboro Independent School District will hold a Creative Arts Fair for its students from Tuesday, February 9, through Friday, February 12.
Online registration is underway through the month of January. Divisions include home-baked goods, crafts, art, photography and textiles.
In addition to filling out the online registration form, students will need to submit a nonrefundable entry fee of $2 per item at the student s campus. No late registrations will be accepted.
Items will be dropped off on the following schedule (all items must be tagged): pre-kindergarten through second grade - Monday, February 8, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the elementary school; third through fifth grades - Tuesday, February 9, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the intermediate school; sixth through eighth grades - Wednesday, February 10, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the juni ....
