Mozambique: Chinese West International Holding subsidiary Dugongo Cement has inaugurated its 2.0Mt/yr integrated Matutuine cement plant in Maputo province. The unit had an investment of US$330m, according to the Mozambique News Agency. The site includes a captive 36MW charcoal-fired power station and a residential complex for some of its 300 permanent staff.
President Filipe Nyusi said, “The Dugongo Cement plant will improve the economy of the cement industry, because it will reduce the import of inputs such as clinker. ....

Iran rolls out three major petrochemical projects with an investment amounting to over $1.3 billion.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has inaugurated three more petrochemical plants in the country with an investment of over $1.3 billion as he hails his government’s records in job creation and improved manufacturing activity through the expansion of the country’s petchem sector.
Rouhani used a video conference call on Thursday to open the three plants that are located in the energy-rich regions south of Iran.
His website said in a report that the projects create a total of 2,454 new and permanent jobs. ....
