Macao welcomes over 1100 delegates to PATA Travel Mart 2016

The 40th edition of PATA Travel Mart 2017 (PTM 2017), hosted by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), has attracted 1,131 delegates from 66 global destinations. The delegate numbers embraced 460 sellers from 252 organisations and 37 destinations, along with 293 buyers from 281 organisations and 51 source markets. PTM 2017 officially opened in Macao SAR on September 13.
PATA CEO Dr. Mario Hardy paid tribute to warm and sincere welcome offered to all delegates by the host city. “It was very recently that Macao was hit hard by Typhoon Hato and, while recovery works are continuing, the city’s return to normality and amazing welcome is testament to the resilience of its people.” ....

With protests intensifying and social media interruptions reported in the weeks leading up to Beninâs presidential elections on 11 April 2021, many Internet and civil rights organizations were growing nervous about the potential for another Internet shutdown.
Internet access was cut for almost 24 hours during Beninâs legislative elections in 2019 and there has been a worrying global trend in election-related Internet shutdowns. In 2020, Access Nowâs #KeepItOn coalition documented 155 shutdowns in 29 countries, including 10 in Africa. And according to Internet Societyâs data insight tool, Pulse, there have been 98 Internet shutdowns in the past 12 months. ....

Africa’s attitude towards adult pornography is quite lax for a continent famous for its largely religious citizens. Very few countries have any laws prohibiting activities relating to adult pornography.
However, there is a prevalence of laws on child pornography as contained in most enactments on cybercrime in line with the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime. Section 24 of Kenya’s Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act provides for this.
On the other hand, Kenyan law has no clear provisions for the sale, possession, and production of pornography; until now, it has done nothing to curb distribution online. ....
