Cape Town - The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) busted a clandestine hydroponic cannabis laboratory in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town.
Provincial Hawks spokesperson Zinzi Hani said in a statement that its National Intervention Unit arrested a 45-year-old suspect on Wednesday in Sayed Abdul Mutahliep Road in Rocklands.
Hani said the team followed up on information received just before 1pm about the laboratory at the house in the area.
They searched the premises and discovered a fully fledged makeshift laboratory with cannabis plants housed in a ventilated tent with lights.

The Hawks have bust a Gqeberha mother for allegedly trying to sell her five-day-old twins to “satisfy her drug addiction”.
The directorate’s serious organised crime investigation team, working with Uitenhage crime intelligence-gathering and police, arrested the woman on Thursday.
Hawks spokesperson Capt Yolisa Mgolodela said the mother was arrested with two other suspects.
“Information was received that there was possible human trafficking about to take place as the mother of five-day-old twin girls was reported to be looking for a buyer,” she said. ....

The mother and one other person were arrested by the Hawks and police in Uitenhage on Thursday. 
The mother is alleged to be a drug addict and she connived with this other lady that, after birth, she would give her babies to her and the lady would pay her R50 per day for her to get her fix,” says the police’s Yolisa Mgobodela. 
The deal was that she would give her the R50 until the buyer registers the babies in her name and she gets the SASSA grant.” ....
