It feels pretty glad to write this tribute to the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof Oluwatoyin T. Ogundipe, on the occasion of his 61st birthday. I am glad to do so for the many positive ways his life has impacted me.
It has been a rare privilege to work closely with him since January 2017, and throughout this period, I have seen a man with abundant value and impeccable character. I am compelled to believe that it is this character that has made him what he is today.

A man of towering height, well-respected intellectual, known for his calm, unassuming and contagious smiles. A scholar with over ninety publications (90) in accredited academic journals and eight (8) co-authored books. A master of grants, who attracted grants of over N190,000,000; £30,000, and $3,000,000 to the University of Lagos before he became Vice-Chancellor. Attack on security agents: Who'll protect us from future emergencies - Buhari asks

President Buhari has directed that all Eid Al-Fitr celebrations be limited due to the global coronavirus pandemic.
The President’s directive comes as Muslims in Nigeria prepare to end the holy month of Ramadan fasting.
The President also condoled all those who lost family members due to the insecurity in the country.
His message is contained in a statement signed by Garba Shehu, the president’s spokesperson.
The President called on all local leaders to talk to their youths and warn them against being used to incite or foment violence.

FUOYE Mgt used security agents to harass, humiliate me - Suspended Bursar alleges

Few days after the Registrar of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Mr. Olatunbosun Odusanya was sacked, the Bursar of the institution, Mrs Bolatito Akande, has accused the management of the university of using security agencies to chase and harass her after being ‘illegally’ suspended.
Akande who was until Wednesday, 7th May 2021, the Bursar of the University, lamented how the security agencies deployed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Abayomi Fashina, last Thursday prevented her from entering her office despite not being found culpable of any offence.
Odusanya, the immediate past Registrar, was last week sacked by the Governing Council over alleged gross misconduct. ....

Gov. Lalong sets up 7-man committee over PLASU strike

Jos, Jan. 22 2021 Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau has constituted a 7- man committee to look into the impending strike by the staff of Plateau State University (PLASU).
This was in a bid to end the indefinite strike embarked by members of the PLASU branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
Dr Makut Macham, Director of Press and Public Affairs Government House, Jos, in a statement on Friday said the committee would also look into other matters raised by the union.
The Committee members are: State Head of Service, Mr Izam Azi (Chairman) and Mr Isaac Maran, Permanent Secretary, Establishment, Office of the Head of Service, Secretary. ....
