LAHORE: The Punjab government has upgraded the Institute of Child Health (ICH), Lahore, to University of Child Health Sciences, the first one in public sector all over the country.
Located in the heart of the city, the 1,100-bed facility has been upgraded under the University of Child Health Sciences Lahore Act, 2021 two months after the Punjab Assembly passed a bill, giving a go-ahead to expand the scope of healthcare for the children visiting there from all over the country.
The Punjab Specialised Healthcare & Medical Education Department (SH&MED) issued a notification to the effect here on Tuesday. ....

LAHORE:The Punjab government has established University of Child Health Sciences, Lahore, with immediate effect. The SHC&MED, Punjab, upon approval by the chief minister Punjab, issued a notification in this regard on Tuesday. According to the notification, the newly-established university would function under the provisions of the University of Child Health Sciences, Lahore Act 2021. All properties, rights and interests of whatever kind used, enjoyed, possessed, owned or vested in or held in trust by or for the Children Hospital, Institute of Child Health, Lahore and all liabilities legally subsisting against that institution would stand transferred to the university under Section 3 (5) of the Act. ....

LAHORE: The Punjab government on Friday passed different bills, including the Punjab Home-Based Workers Bill 2021, amid protest from the opposition.
The other bills passed by the government included the Punjab Shops and Establishment (Amendment Bill 2021), the Companies Profits (Workers Participation) (Amendment Bill 2020), the Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Commission Bill 2020, the Punjab Apprenticeship Bill 2021, the Sugar Factories (Control) (Amendment) Bill 2021, the Punjab Educational Institution (Reconstitution) Bill 2021 and the University of Child Health Sciences, Lahore, Bill 2021.
The session started with a delay of nearly two hours. Panel of Chairman Mian Shafi Muhammad chaired the session. Malik Ahmed Khan while speaking on the point of order said that government was bulldozing the rules to make legislation of its choice.
