Joe Ghartey, Others Receive Ghana Ministers Of State Excellence Awards


 
Presidential candidate aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former Minister of Railways Development, Joe Ghartey, has received the coveted Ghana Ministers of State Excellence Award.
The Ghana Ministers of State Excellence Honours was presented to Hon. Ghartey; Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyeremanteng; for Trade and Industry Minister, Ekow Spio-Garbrah.
In all, 15 former and serving ministers of state were honoured at the maiden Ghana Ministers of State Excellence Honours held in Accra last Saturday.
The other awardees included former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Prof. Joshua Alabi; a former Defence Minister, Dr Kwame Addo Kufuor; a former Minister of Information, Nana Akomea; a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hackman Owusu Agyemang; a former Minister of Tourism, Catherine Ablema Afeku; a former Minister of Works and Housing, Kwamena Bartels. ....

Joe Ghartey Hailed At Matriculation Of First Batch Of Students Of UMaT School Of Railways


 
The University of Mines and Technology, UMaT at Tarkwa in the Western Region has acknowledged the invaluable role played by Mr Joe Ghartey, the immediate past Minister of Railways and Development towards the establishment of the UMaT School of Railways and Infrastructure Development, SRID at Ketan.
Professor Richard Kwesi Amankwah, the Vice Chancellor of UMat recalled that, the idea for the SRID was mooted by Mr Ghartey when he delivered the UMaT Alumni lecture in October 2018 on the theme, “Ghana’s Railway Infrastructure Development: Challenges and Opportunities for the Minerals Industry in Ghana”.
A Memorandum of Understanding was subsequently signed on May 15, 2018 following various stakeholder engagement after which the then Railway Training School was released to UMaT to serve as a satellite campus for the SRID. ....

'Railway University' Officially Begins Operations In Ghana | Education


The Ghana School of Railways and Infrastructure Development has finally started operations.
The School of Railways and Infrastructure Development is part of the University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa. All programmes being offered by the School are engineering courses.
On January 15, 2021, the first batch of students reported to the School and are currently undergoing orientation.
In 2021, the School is expected to admit some 300 students. Over the next four years, the School is looking to admit about 5,000 students.
The duration of each programme is four years.
For years (2017-2021), the Minister of Railways Development, Hon. Joe Ghartey, spearheaded the establishment of the School. ....
