Deal signed to build 100MW solar plant in Sonagazi

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has said that Bangladesh is committed to increasing its share of renewable energy in power generation in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG).
He made the remarks on Thursday while addressing virtually a function marking the signing of a contract between the state-owned Electricity Generation Company of Bangladesh Limited (EGCB) and the Japanese firm Marubeni Corporation for Implementing a 100 MW solar power plant at Sonagazi in Fenni.
As per the memorandum of understanding (MoU), the PGCB and Marubeni will set up the plant with each having 50 percent equity share in the project. ....

A move is underway to make the power distribution system in Dhaka city fully automated to better address the complaints of consumers, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said today.
Once all the consumers get the pre-paid metres, they ll have no more complaints, the state minister said while addressing a webinar.

The 19th meeting of the Bangladesh-India Joint Steering Committee (BIJSC) on power sector was held at a hotel in the city on Saturday.
The meeting reviewed the progress of various ongoing projects related to the power sector cooperation between the two neighbours and expressed hope for further cooperation, said a handout from the Ministry of the Power, Energy and Mineral Resources.
Bangladesh s Power Secretary Habibur Rahman and his Indian counterpart Sanjiv Nandan Sahai led their respective sides in the meeting, said a press release.
The progress about construction of the second transmission line beside the current situation of import of electricity from India through Bheramara and Bharampur inter-connection system was apprised in the meeting.
