This is to draw the attention of the authorities to the problem of the unavailability of power supply in Usta Mohammad, Balochistan. The power crisis has paralysed the lives of residents. The few transformers that were installed in some parts of the region are out of order for more than five years now. The relevant authorities haven’t done anything to ensure that they’re repaired on an urgent basis. The areas that are blessed with the supply of power frequently face the problem of unscheduled loadshedding.

The supply of electricity remained suspended in several parts of Karachi during the early hours of Sunday despite K-Electric’s repeated assurances that power distribution had resumed.
The city had suffered a massive electricity breakdown on Saturday morning in the sweltering weather due to a fault at the Bin Qasim power station that disrupted the essential commodity’s supply for the entire day.
A large part of Karachi suffered electricity outage of up to nine or more hours as heavy smoke billowed out of the gas insulating system of a plant at Bin Qasim due to a mechanical fault. Residential areas and business centres of North Karachi, Golimar, Korangi, Nazimabad, North Nazimabad, Al-Asif Square, Saddar, Shah Faisal, old city localities, Lyari, Landhi, Liaquatabad, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Federal B Area, Clifton, Safoora, PECHS and DHA were among the parts of the city that wer ....

Tropical Storm Ana has formed in the Atlantic Ocean, becoming the first named storm of 2021. The Atlantic hurricane season does not officially begin until June 1. It is the seventh straight year in which a named storm formed before June 1.
Ana was about 200 miles northeast of Bermuda when its maximum sustained winds reached 45 mph on Saturday (May 22). While the storm was moving away from Bermuda, the island was under tropical storm watch due to the high winds.
As of Sunday morning, Ana was moving northeast at a speed of 12 mph, and the tropical storm watch was dropped. ....

Synopsis
A report by Forum of Regulators, which consists of all electricity regulatory bodies in the country, has made many suggestions, including regulating returns on equity for railways and lowering the return on equity allowed to regulated power projects to 14% in view of low interest rates, to bring down electricity tariffs.
Electricity regulators have highlighted “irrationalities” in the government policies governing the country’s power sector and suggested some corrections that, according to them, can substantially reduce consumer tariffs. ....

Government document backs expansion of new energy vehicle infrastructure nationwide
China is continuing its push to promote the take up of new energy vehicles in the country, with a top government body issuing a document to solicit public opinion on the cutting of red tape around the construction of charging piles.
The National Development and Reform Commission released the document on Thursday, which proposes that community managers do not obstruct the building of charging piles when certain conditions are met. ....
