Court orders removal of ex-ISI chief's name from ECL - Newspaper

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday ordered removal of the name of former director general of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) retired Lt Gen Asad Durrani from the Exit Control List (ECL).
Chief Justice Athar Minallah issued the order while hearing Mr Durrani’s petition seeking removal of his name from the ECL.
At the outset of the hearing, Justice Minallah asked Deputy Attorney General Syed Mohammad Tayyab as to why the name of the former ISI chief had been kept on the no-fly list.
Mr Tayyab replied that Mr Durrani’s name was on the ECL due to a pending inquiry against him. ....

Justice Kayani recuses from ex-ISI chief case - Newspaper

ISLAMABAD: Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday recused himself from hearing the petition of former director general of the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) retired Lt-Gen Asad Durrani seeking removal of his name from the Exit Control List (ECL).
Citing personal reasons, Justice Kayani referred the case to the chief justice for transfer it to any other bench.
Subsequently, the hearing was adjourned without any progress.
Earlier last hearing, the defence ministry submitted a startling report that accused former spymaster for anti-state activities and stated that he is “affiliated/interacting with hostile elements specially Indian RAW since 2008.” ....

ISLAMABAD: While opposing the request of ex-chief of Pakistan’s premier intelligence agency Asad Durrani seeking removal of his name from the no-fly list, the Ministry of Defence on Wednesday accused him of being involved in anti-state activities alleging that he is either “affiliated or interacting with hostile elements specially Indian RAW [Research and Analysis Wing] since 2008”.
The comments were part of the ministry’s response to the petition of the former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) director general before the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
Retired Lt Gen Durrani’s name was placed on the Exit Control List (ECL) for co-authoring a book, The Spy Chronicles: RAW, ISI and the Illusion of Peace, with former chief of the Indian spy agency Amarjit Singh Dulat after Pakistan’s Military Intelligence (MI) wrote to the interior ministry in this regard in 2018. ....

Islamabad [Pakistan], January 28 (ANI): Pakistan s defence ministry has opposed efforts by former ISI Chief s Lt Gen (retired) Asad Durrani s efforts to get his name removed from a no-fly list. It has claimed that Durrani had been interacting with India s external intelligence agency RAW [Research and Analysis Wing] since 2008, according to a media report on Wednesday.
