ISLAMABAD: To provide relief to the people, Prime Minister Imran Khan Monday rejected the Ogra s proposed increase in the petroleum products.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority had proposed an increase of Rs14.07 per liter of petrol, Rs13.61 per liter of high speed diesel, Rs10.79 per liter of kerosene and Rs7.43 per liter of light diesel, says the Prime Minister Office.
It noted that in the interest of public welfare, the prime minister did not approve the proposal. “The government will go to any lengths to provide relief to the people,” Imran Khan said. ....

ISLAMABAD: Due to internal rifts in the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) over nomination of candidates for the upcoming Senate elections, Prime Minister Imran Khan is said to be in a fix and expected to make some changes to the list of party candidates.
In order to resolve grievances of the party leaders and finalise the list of candidates, the prime minister has called a parliamentary party meeting on Tuesday.
According to a list of candidates issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), 56 PTI candidates have filed their nomination papers for 21 expected seats of the ruling party. It means that 36 covering candidates have submitted their nomination papers and now it is up to the prime minister to distribute party tickets to those he deems fit for contesting the Senate elections. ....

Panelists demand declaring Education Emergency, spending 4% of GDP on education

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Speakers at a penal discuss stressed the need for declaring an Education Emergency and spending at least 4% of GDP on education in order to bring improvement in the long-neglected Education Sector.
The panel comprising concerned stakeholders including government officials from the Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training, Vice-Chancellors, Central President Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association.
They gave various recommendations in an online panel discussion on the topic of “Debating Pakistan Education Policy 2021”, which was successfully concluded on Thursday.
The recommendations were given so as they could be incorporated in the new Education Policy which is going to be announced on March 23, 2021. ....

'Ed-Tech to be vital part of education policy

Islamabad : Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mehmood has said that Ed-Tech will be a core pillar of Pakistan Education Policy 2021.
We shall use Ed-Tech to make learning holistic, enjoyable, integrated and to create an ecosystem in education which will make students well learned and productive, said the minister while presiding over a virtual meeting with Ed-Tech Industry owners.
The meeting was aimed to discuss Pakistan Education Policy 2021 and use of technology in it.
The minister said education s future lies in the technology and Ed-Tech encourages the innovation in learning process. He said the ministry was going to launch a project of $ 200 million with the collaboration of World Bank for online content development and it will help to develop Pakistan Ed-Tech Industry too, he added. ....
