ISLAMABAD: Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan Sikandar Sultan Raja has ordered gradual multi-faceted organisational changes to enhance the capacity of the institution so that it could carry out its constitutional duties in a more efficient manner.
Some significant organizational changes of the first phase include: 1. The Information Technology Department has been restructured for more efficient use of technology in the next elections under which new posts of project director (duplication), project manager, electoral technology and project manager, data centre/printing have been approved and individuals in these positions will be contracted for a fixed period of time in exchange for an attractive salary. They will work to formulate and implement strategies to ensure the use of election-related technology. ....

Unfortunately in Pakistan respected institutions have lost their credibility, and it is the need of the hour to do constitutional reforms to make institutions credible again (“Imran Khan wants US-like electronic voting system for transparent elections in Pakistan,’” March 9, Gulf Today).
Prime Minister Imran Khan told the federal cabinet that he wanted the use of technology such as Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) in the elections and regular updates on mechanisms being developed to ensure overseas Pakistanis can vote. In Pakistan, it’s a common practice that after the general elections, the losing side of the political parties refuses to accept defeat, question the role of the Election Commission of Pakistan, and start the movement against the elected government from the day one. ....
