FAISALABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood has said that sustainable growth in exports is the only solution to cope with the economic problems of the country.
Addressing the members of Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) here on Sunday, Abdul Razak Dawood said that the country’s exports had witnessed the highest ever 18pc surge in FY 2020-21 despite adverse impacts of COVID-19 pandemic. The world’s major economies shrunk mainly due to the deadliest COVID-19 waves, but it was Pakistan that showed tremendous performance in increasing the exports, he added.
All credit goes to our valued exporters who performed extremely well even in challenging times of pandemic, he maintained. Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood has emphasised that the real target is sustainable export growth as sustainability is the only recipe for economic success by overcoming the challenges.
Talking to members of the Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) in Faisalabad, the PM aide boasted that Pakistan’s exports had registered the highest-ever increase of 18% in fiscal year 2020-21 despite the adverse conditions created by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Major economies of the world shrank mainly due to the deadliest Covid waves, but it was Pakistan that performed quite well by increasing exports whereas the regional competing economies of India and Bangladesh remained in the negative zone,” he said. ....

Advisor to Prime Minister on Commerce, Textile, Industries, Production and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood said that small and medium enterprises (SME) sector was contributing 95 percent share to the national economy and the government was fully cognizant of their importance and trying to resolve their issues on top priority basis.
Addressing a meeting of All Pakistan Bed-sheets & Upholstery Manufacturers Association (APBUMA), he said the economy had been stabilized and now a new target for exports would be fixed after Eidul Azha during a meeting of stakeholders with Prime Minister Imran Khan.
He said the government was already providing facilities to the SME sector. He said that most of the raw material consumed by the SME sector had been zero-rated. The remaining taxes and duties would also be withdrawn so that the SME sector could fully exploit its potential and give a quantum jump to national exports, he said. ....
