KARACHI: The United Bank Limited (UBL) has been one of the leading advocates of the government-backed “Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar” low-cost housing finance scheme since its inception, a statement said on Tuesday.
To further enhance the bank’s promotion and extension of this facility, UBL signed an agreement with Akhuwat Islamic Microfinance (AIM) to offer exclusive housing finance solutions to the customers of Akhuwat.
Further, UBL will provide housing finance solutions on the low-cost housing variants under Islamic financing mode and will offer exclusive arrangements to the customers of Akhuwat, it added.
AIM, a not-for-profit organisation, has in-depth expertise of serving the underprivileged through favourable financial schemes. ....

The State Bank of Pakistan, Friday, directed all banks and financial institutes to rationalize processing fee and devise a comprehensive mechanism equipped with online E-tracking system to expedite processing of applications received under PM’s “Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar” housing finance scheme.
“Devise a system to monitor 30 days Turn Around Time (TAT) for decision on applications received,’’ the central bank further directed while taking notice of a number of complaints especially regarding delayed processing, long turnaround time and no mechanism to track the financing application after submission. ....

Work on promoting and facilitating housing and construction finance is progressing rapidly and upward momentum is building up as a result of recent measures undertaken by the government and the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
In a statement on Tuesday, the SBP highlighted that the housing and construction finance portfolio rose from Rs148 billion at the end of June 2020 to Rs202 billion in March 2021. ....
