Several parts of Jharkhand are expected to experience rain and thunderstorm on February 16, the Ranchi Met office has forecast, citing Wednesday’s satellite pictures and wind chart analysis.
Weathermen pointed to a western disturbance over Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir extending 3.1km and 5.8km above the mean sea level as the primary reason. The western disturbance is expected to trigger a cyclonic circulation which would result in rainfall over various parts of Jharkhand around January 16 and 17, said a duty officer at the Ranchi Meteorological Centre. ....

Jharkhand is likely to witness an extended winter, weathermen predicted on Monday, explaining that the frequency of western disturbances would ensure that the season will be extended well beyond February second week.
Both IMD s Ranchi and Patna Met centres issued an alert of rain and thundershowers in isolated pockets of the state around February 5-6. Again, adverse weather conditions were expected around mid-February. 
Weather officials forecast light to moderate rain in western, central and southern Jharkhand on February 5 and 6 due to the impact of a western disturbance passing through higher latitudes. ....

The sub-1Sub-10 chill to subside across state from Sunday0 chill currently prevailing in most parts of Jharkhand is likely to be short-lived as minimum temperatures are set to rise from Sunday in most districts because of a western disturbance, according to IMD s Ranchi and Patna Met centres.
A western disturbance passing through Jammu and Kashmir would impact weather conditions of Jharkhand and neighbouring Bihar from Sunday. The current north-westerly wind pattern would change to easterly from Saturday. This would result in moisture incursion and cloud formation, Abhishek Anand, the deputy director of Ranchi Meteorological Centre, explained on Friday.
The senior Met official did not rule out the possibility of light showers around mid-week due to the impact of the passing western disturbance. ....

The biting cold across Jharkhand is likely to stay for the next three days with IMD s Ranchi Meteorological Centre revealing on Monday afternoon that minimum readings in most parts of the state will remain three to four notches below normal.
Jamshedpur recorded its lowest minimum temperature this season at 7.6°C against 8.7°C on Sunday. Several other parts of the Kolhan region, including Chaibasa in West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan also witnessed a new low of around 7°C.
Ranchi continued to record 7.2 °C for the second consecutive day on Monday, while in Kanke on the outskirts of the state capital, the Celsius nosedived to 5.7°C. ....
