Plan to set up oxygen plants in 4 govt hospitals delayed | Ranchi News

RANCHI: The Union health ministry’s plans to set up oxygen manufacturing plants in four government-run Covid hospitals in the state by the end of April have been deferred due to a surge in Covid cases across the country. The proposal to set up these plants aimed at eliminating the hospitals’ dependence on oxygen refilling companies for cylinders.
With Covid cases increasing exponentially in bigger states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat and Delhi, the shipment of Pressure swing adsorption (PSA) oxygen plants will be delayed and this could turn out to be deadly for Jharkhand.
Sources in the state health department said the oxygen plants were to be set up at the sadar hospital and Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) in Ranchi, Pataliputra Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) in Dhanbad and the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital (MGMMCH) in Jamshedpur. Samples pile up, Bokaro banks on TrueNat, RAT | Ranchi News

Bokaro: The Bokaro administration has intensified testing through Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and TrueNat as samples from the district are piling up at the microbiology lab in Pataliputra Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), Dhanbad.
“We have intensified testing through RAT and TrueNat. There are 12 TrueNat machines in Sadar Hospital, Bokaro General Hospital and other blocks of the district,” civil surgeon Dr A K Pathak said on Wednesday.
According to sources in the district health department sources, 2,500 samples are yet to be tested at PMCH. “Although we received a few test reports on Tuesday, those samples were collected on April 8,” an official said. ....
