SOLOMONS HOST TURTLE CONSERVATION MEETING

HONIARA, Solomon Islands (SIBC, Feb. 22) – Government delegations from Papua New Guinea and Indonesia are in Solomon Islands this week to consider a tri-national agreement on the conservation and management of critically endangered leatherback turtles.
This follows the first preparatory committee meeting in Port Moresby in October last year when an Expression of Commitment was first announced.
The World Wide Fund for Nature office in Honiara says representatives from the three governments; non-government organizations, regional organizations and community-based groups are meeting to discuss the status of the agreement.
They will also develop implementation framework to support the agreement when it is finalized. ....
