ISLAMABAD: Babar Azam Wednesday rejected Shoaib Malik’s claims that as the captain of national squad he didn’t have any say in team’s formation for international matches.
Shoaib in his recent Tweet put the onus on the team management for calling the shots.
“That is not right. Enough is enough as such things should come to a dead stop now. I am the captain and I have all the powers to decide on the formation of the team. Even I have all the authority to select the final XI. I do consult with team management wherever I feel it is necessary but the final decision always rests with me.” ....

LAHORE: Pakistan captain Babar Azam has become the fastest batsman to score 2,000 in T20Is, leaving behind Indian captain Virat Kohli.
The ICC number-one ranked ODI player reached the landmark in only his 52nd T20I innings. The Indian skipper had done that in his 56th innings.
Babar is the third Pakistani batsman and eleventh in the world to achieve the feat. The other two Pakistanis are Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez. ....

ISLAMABAD: As Pakistan fought back to win the third T20I and series against Zimbabwe 2-1 following an unexpected loss on Friday, captain Babar Azam Sunday attributed the success to some fine pace bowling display backed by quality batting upfront.
In a post-match media talk, Babar said it was a convincing win and the whole credit must go to the pace attack. “During the run chase, Zimbabwe were in comfort zone at the end of the first 10 overs. Then Hasan Ali came to the party and started making an impact with back-to-back wickets. Regular wickets pegged back the hosts and they started finding it difficult to come closer to the winning target. Besides Hasan, Husnain, Harris Rauf, and Fahim also bowled well.” ....

Pakistani skipper Babar Azam made history once again by shattering a record previously held by Virat Kohli, becoming the fastest batsman to get to 2,000 T20I runs.
Azam was able to achieve the impressive feat from just 52 T20I innings whereas Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who previously held the record, managed to do the same in just 56 innings.
This makes Azam the third Pakistani batsman to achieve the feat, with Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez the other two who scored 2,000 T20I runs. ....

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan captain Babar Azam called middle-order’s poor batting display the reason for the unexpected loss against Zimbabwe in the second T20 international at Harare on Friday.
In a post-match interview, he said he was quite upset at the loss. “The middle-order should have shown some guts. It was never a difficult ask. Poor display by the middle-order was the reason behind this loss. Our middle and lower-middle order is really struggling,” he said.
“Really I feel bad and angry as there was no stiff target to chase. We should have won the match quite comfortably,” he said. ....
