Three senior BJP leaders including president J.P. Nadda campaigned in West Bengal on Tuesday and raked up religion as a poll plank. Mr. Nadda, who held a road show and addressed a public meeting in Bankura, wondered why Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced a lockdown on the day of foundation stone laying of Ram Temple in August 2020 but lifted it on the day of muharram.
Delhi remained the most polluted capital city in the world but India, on the whole, had improved its average annual PM 2.5 (particulate matter) levels higher in 2020 than in 2019, according to a report from IQ Air, a Swiss air quality technology company, specialising in protection against airborne pollutants, and developing air quality monitoring and air cleaning products.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday resumed her campaign in districts with a strong message that she will uproot those who are conspiring against her. “My leg will heal in the next few years. I will see whether your legs can move freely on Bengal’s soil,” Ms. Banerjee said at Jhalda rally in Purulia.
External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar on Monday told the Rajya Sabha that the government wanted to expand the “air bubble” arrangement with more countries and the priority would be Saudi Arabia, Kuwait in the west and Japan, China and Singapore in the east.

Railways Minister Piyush Goyal said on March 10 that the State governments should support the national transporter in completing all the pending projects.
Participating in Question Hour proceedings, Mr. Goyal lamented that governments before 2014 announced railway projects without allocating funds for execution.
He said the Modi government increased investment in railway infrastructure to ₹2.15 lakh crore in Budget 2021-22 from ₹40,000-45,000 crore in 2013.
Our government is working to complete all pending railways projects, Mr. Goyal said, adding that the Railways was not getting support from many State governments.
Work on one railway project in West Bengal is going on since 1974, the State government is not supporting us, he said. Now time has come, all State governments should support railways [in completing pending projects].

Refer to Committee on Privileges his allegations made in Parliament, she urges Speaker
Terming the death of MP Mohan Delkar as a “strike on the dignity of Parliament”, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Supriya Sule on Wednesday urged Speaker Om Birla to refer to the Committee on Privileges his allegations made in Parliament.
In a memorandum to the Speaker, Ms. Sule, MP from the Baramati constituency in Pune district, along with other MPs, said they were “shocked” by the tragic death of the seven-time Lok Sabha representative from the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
“The fact that a 7-time MP was frustrated to such an extent that it would drive him to extreme despair and steps to end his life is traumatic for all of us…We have lost a fellow member. It is not just a loss of life but also a strike on the dignity of Parliament. The independence and supremacy of Parliament rests on the discharge of duties by its members free of any fear or duress,” read Ms. Sule’s memorandum, signed by MPs from other parties including Congress’ Shashi Tharoor, Samajwadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav and members of the Shiv Sena, the DMK, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
