Pollster Ben Ephson has said that Northerners who have supported the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are expecting that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is made the flagbearer of the NPP for 2024 election.
According to him, these individuals are following the happenings in the party with keen interest if the party snubs Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for another Akan, they will come to the realization that they are only good for votes in the NPP.
Ben Ephson who was speaking in an interview on Accra-based Joy FM said “If NPP settles for another Akan, there is going to be that feeling from persons from the Northern regions who have been voting for the NPP that the NPP uses and dumps them especially when the late Aliu Mahama (may he rest in peace) got less than 7 percent in the 2007 presidential race of the NPP. So that could lead the people to think that they only use them for votes and judging from 2020, the Northern regions gave the NPP quite a fair number of seats”. ....

Majority leader in Parliament Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has intimated that it will not be wise on the part of the New Patriotic Party which has been tagged an ‘Akan party to present another ‘Akan’ after the tenure of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
According to him, presenting another ‘Akan’ as its flagbearer will give credence and validate the assertion that the NPP is an ‘Akan party and is no respecter of other ethnic groups in the country.
He made this known while speaking on Accra-based Joy News’ “The Probe” which was monitored by MyNewsGh.com.
Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu said, for this reason, although he qualifies to contest for the flagbearership of the party, he has decided to drawback. ....

Presenting the 2021 budget statement the Majority leader in Parliament Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has stated that the district level scholarship scheme will be made available online for easy access by all.
He said the decision was reached to make the application process easy and transparent and curb any third-party involvements.
“Mr Speaker, the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat introduced automation of the District Level Scholarship Scheme from the online scholarships application process through to the payments of awards. The objective is to make scholarship application accessible to all and also increase transparency in the awarding process,” he said. ....

Majority Leader in Parliament Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has cautioned that the House will not entertain any breach of protocol next Tuesday, March 9, 2021, when President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo delivers a message on the State of the Nation.
The scheduled delivery by the President is in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, which states that “the President shall at the beginning of each session of Parliament and before the dissolution of Parliament deliver a message on the State of the Nation.”
