“Alberta’s tourism industry is a major part of our economy. Tourism businesses are mostly local small businesses that provide good jobs in our communities and inject billions of dollars a year into our economy.
“2020 was a year like no other, and the tourism sector and tourism operators and businesses continue to face challenges. Before the pandemic, the sector employed 68,800 full-time employees and visitor expenditures in Alberta reached $8.2 billion. ....

ISLAMABAD: Finance minister Shaukat Tarin on Sunday said the 3.94 per cent GDP growth during the current year was calculated in a “transparent manner” and if things continued apace, the economy would grow by a rosy 5 per cent next year, as he parried attacks from the opposition who accused the government of “fudging the figures”.
Addressing a virtual press briefing, Tarin predicted that based on current trends, the economy would grow by 5 per cent in 2021-22 and 6 per cent during 2022-23. He was the most recent minister to defend the GDP growth figure, which the opposition called into question. ....

THAILAND: As part of China’s global campaign to vaccinate its overseas citizens, Chinese nationals based in Thailand started receiving the first round of COVID-19 shots yesterday (May 20).

So far Thailand has received 6 million doses of Coronavac, the Chinese-manufactured COVID-19 vaccine from Sinovac. A delivery of 1.5 million doses was received yesterday and a further 3 million are expected to arrive next month, explained a report by Associated Press. ....
