Cities throughout Orange County will receive more than $28 million in Measure M transportation funds to help ease traffic by making improvements to streets and timing of traffic lights. The Orange County Transportation Authority board this week awarded funding for nine projects that will improve and widen busy streets and intersections, totaling $20.2 million. Three additional projects will receive funding to synchronize traffic signals to ensure drivers hit the most green lights during peak traffic hours. That funding totals $8.5 million. By City News Service May 5, 2021 IRVINE (CNS) - A 76-year-old man diagnosed with dementia who was reported missing after last being seen in Irvine was found this morning. Armando “Gabby Vasquez was last seen about 3 p.m. Tuesday near LA Fitness at the intersection of Culver Drive and Barranca Parkway, according to the Irvine Police Department. About 12:40 a.m., a patrol sergeant showed a citizen a photo of Vasquez and the person recognized the missing man and helped lead to his whereabouts, the department said. Vasquez was found in good condition and was reunited with his family, police said. An exact location where Vasquez was found was not disclosed. ....
After nearly 10 years in operation, Cal State Fullertonâs Irvine Campus will officially close its doors at the end of June. The property is in the process of being sold after the university faced financial challenges after losing a lessee and found limited use for it during the virtual semester. The decision to place the property on the market instead of continuing to pay for its empty occupation was announced today by CSUFâs Office of the President in a statement.  âDespite these efforts, due to the size and cost of maintaining the Irvine Center, it has been challenging for the university to utilize the property to the fullest extent,â the message read. ....
