Michael Fitzgerald has today proposed that the Rock of Cashel be placed on a tentative list to be included in the “Royal Sites Of Ireland” as part of the World Heritage Sites under the governance of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention. Only countries that have signed the World Heritage Convention, pledging to protect their natural and cultural heritage, can submit nomination proposals for properties on their territory to be considered for inclusion in UNESCO’s World Heritage List. The inclusion of the Rock of Cashel on the tentative list would be the first step in UNESCO’s nomination process. In order to be deemed worthy, a proposed site must be “of outstanding universal value and meet at least one out of ten selection criteria. ....

Even though he was sitting in the normally-advantageous second position, Rich And Miserable rated far behind pacesetting Pikachu Hanover, who sailed along on an open lead in remarkable fractions of :27, :55.3 and 1:23.1. Pikachu Hanover could not sustain that energy usage, however, and Rich And Miserable narrowed in through the backstretch and drew off in the stretch for driver Tyler Buter, trainer Todd Buter, and owners Buter Farm Inc., Lynette Buter, and William and Carol Fuhs. Today marks ‘Go Purple for Domestic Violence’ at a time when the issue is a growing source of concern due to Covid-19 restrictions. The Rock of Cashel was lit up in purple last night to also mark the campaign. Cahir Sergeant Ray Moloney says they’ve partnered locally with Cuan Saor and local pharmacies to help people find the help they need. “Anybody seeking support or advice or indeed intervention – male or female – can speak to any staff member in any of the pharmacies in confidence by asking ‘purple clothes dye’.” ....
