Pittston police post 'Drug house closed for business' on Facebook after drug arrest


The police chief says a joint investigation led officers to arrest a man for possession of methamphetamine.

The police chief says a joint investigation led officers to arrest a man for possession of methamphetamine.
The chief calls this home a known drug distribution location in the city s Lincoln Heights section.
The home was subsequently condemned by code enforcement for being unsafe to live in. ....

Luzerne County spared flooding, but new threat looms


Residents in low-lying areas of Luzerne County were relieved the Susquehanna River crested lower than initially expected Saturday, but they’re not about to let their guard down.
The National Weather Service had projected Thursday that the river would crest at about 34 feet Saturday afternoon at the Wilkes-Barre gauge. On Friday, the service changed the projection to about 30 feet and lowered it again early Saturday to 25.5 feet.
At 1:45 p.m., the river was 25.56 feet and remained around that level through Saturday evening. It was expected to fall below flood stage Sunday morning and continue dropping to about 13.1 feet early Tuesday afternoon. ....
