Tower construction at Solar Park nears 90 per cent completion

A team from DEWA have inspected progress at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest concentrated solar power project in the world.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has inspected progress on the 950 megawatt fourth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) project globally.
Upon completion, the project will have the largest thermal storage capacity in the world of 15 hours, allowing for energy availability round the clock.
The fourth phase will provide clean energy for around 320,000 homes and reduce 1.6 million tonnes of carbon emissions every year. ....

67,909 COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the past 24 hours

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) announced on Saturday that it gave 67,909 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine in last 24 hour-period.
The UAE has administered a total 8,559,291 vaccination doses to date.
The vaccine distribution rate now stands at 86.54 single doses per 100 people.
This is in line with the Ministry s plan to provide the COVID-19 vaccine to all members of society and efforts to reach acquired immunity resulting from the vaccination, which will help reduce the number of cases and control the virus. ....

Abu Dhabi healthcare regulator receives 13 prizes for COVID-19 response

The Department of Health - Abu Dhabi (DoH) has won 13 honours in the 2021 Middle East and North Africa Stevie Awards for its handling of the pandemic.
The event, sponsored by the Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, awarded DoH Gold, Silver and Bronze prizes for several initiatives.
These include the Abu Dhabi Healthcare Quality Index Muashir , the Healthcare Programme for Senior Citizens and Individuals with Chronic Illnesses, the nationwide awareness campaign against COVID-19, and Artificial Intelligent Solution in Exam Delivery.
Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Hamed, Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi has also won two prestigious Stevie Awards, namely the Gold Award for Innovative Management in Government - Organisations with 100 or More Employees and for Government Hero of the Year , in the pandemic response category. ....

UAE tops Arab world in WEF Global Gender Gap report

The UAE has been ranked first across the Arab region in the World Economic Forum (WEF) Global Gender Gap Report 2021.
Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Gender Balance Council, President of Dubai Women Establishment, and wife of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, congratulated the UAE’s leadership.
The UAE has advanced 48 ranks in just one year and now stands at 72 globally.
The country also ranked first for sex ratio at birth, literacy rate and enrollment in primary education. ....
