Binay: Why was Parlade not scolded over controversial statements?

Senator Nancy Binay on Friday asked why National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict spokesperson Lieutenant General Antonio Parlade Jr. is not being reprimanded over his controversial statements.
In an interview with ANC, Binay noticed that Parlade’s statement against the Maginhawa community pantry is not “in tune” with the statement of support coming from the Department of Interior and Local Government, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the Philippine National Police.
“I must admit it’s a million-dollar question, kasi ‘di ba ang dami na niyang kumbaga mali-mali na sinasabi but he’s still there and parang he’s not being reprimanded. So, I don’t know kung anong mayroon si Gen. Parlade na parang ang impression is he is untouchable,” Binay said. ....

In the movie adaptation of
V for Vendetta, the hero (V) was a masked vigilante prone to Shakespearean outbursts. In his final confrontation with the “evil” commander of the State forces (Mr. Creedy), V was shot several times, yet remained standing. In response to a shocked Creedy, V uttered one of the movie’s most memorable lines:

The past few days witnessed the emergence of one such idea. The Maginhawa Community Pantry sprung from the simple efforts of one lady – Patricia Non. It was a simple idea, one so pure that by now a thousand politicians and PR managers must be killing themselves for not doing it earlier. “Take what you need. Give what you can.” In these simple words lay the beauty of Ms. Non’s idea. It was bayanihan given life. ....

President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday called for the abolition of the kafala system - a scheme that allows employers in Middle Eastern countries to control the employment and migration status of foreign workers they employ.
The President made the appeal during the Virtual Forum on Labor Mobility and Human Rights organized by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
“The Philippines recognizes the sovereign right of each state to adopt its own migration policy. But there are universal liberties and moral standards we must adhere to at all times. We can’t justify the denial of basic human rights and the fundamental freedoms of every individual,” the President said. ....
