Awarded: Geotechnical contract for Vietnam offshore wind farm

The La Gan Wind Power Development Corporation owned by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), Asiapetro and Novasia, has awarded an offshore geotechnical contract to a consortium led by Vietsovpetro, PTSC G&S and Fugro.
Fugro on Tuesday said the award is part of CIP’s development plan for the La Gan offshore wind project in Vietnam which, with a potential capacity of 3.5 gigawatts, will be one of the first large-scale offshore wind farms in the Southeast Asian nation.
The La Gan wind farm will be constructed in phases, with the first phase now scheduled for completion by 2026, said Fugro. ....

Denmark, Vietnam Join Forces on La Gan Offshore Wind Farm

The La Gan Wind Power Development Corporation has signed two contracts with Vietnam’s Northern Center for Planning and Investigation of Marine Resources and Environment (CPIM) for the 3.5 GW La Gan offshore wind farm.
Under the contracts, CPIM, in cooperation with the Danish geological authority GEUS, will deliver a geophysical survey and geological and marine usage study for the La Gan project.
“We are extremely pleased to support this collaboration between two government agencies and facilitate knowledge transfer to Vietnam”, the developer said via social media.
The La Gan Wind Power Development Corporation is developing the 3.5 GW project on behalf of Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), Asiapetro, and Novasia Energy. ....

Foreign investors are increasing investments in renewable energy projects in Vietnam
Chinese investors are increasing their ownership in numerous renewable energy projects in Central Vietnam, the Central Highlands region, and Southwest Vietnam.
Notably, in Dak Nong province, the joint venture between Hung Bac Energy Investment JSC and The North Investment Construction and Development JSC are developing three wind farms with a total capacity of 300MW and the total investment capital of VND10.5 trillion ($456.5 million). 80 per cent of the investment capital would come from loans.

Enterprize Energy starts survey work for Vietnamese wind project

Enterprize Energy, an offshore wind developer, has announced the commencement of initial marine surveys off the coast of Binh Thuan province for its 3.4 GW Thang Long Offshore Wind project, one of the largest offshore wind farms to be granted a survey licence by the Vietnamese Government.
Vietnam is set to become a clean energy leader in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, targeting 21% installed renewable energy capacity by 2030. With an estimated 160 GW of wind energy potential in the region’s waters, the roll out of significant offshore wind projects will be key to meeting this target.
