Odisha police are creating a separate corridor for the movement of tankers carrying oxygen to ensure speedy delivery to states that are facing an acute shortage.
“Two more tankers are on the way from Jajpur to Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam. A dedicated corridor has been put in place. Odisha police escorting the same. We are committed to ensure prompt transportation for the service of thousands of needy patients,” Odisha police tweeted on Friday.
It also released photos of cops escorting oxygen tankers to Indore and Mumbai. “Now two medical oxygen tankers. One for Indore, MP (21 ton) and second for Mumbai (25 ton) on way from Rourkela. Dedicated corridor established by Odisha Police for prompt and unhindered movement,� ....

Covid: Naveen Patnaik promises oxygen supply

Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday dialled Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and assured them that Odisha will supply medical oxygen to meet their needs. Both the Centre and Delhi government are finding it tough to arrange oxygen at a time when the number of corona patients dying owing to shortage of oxygen is rising.
“It is a war like situation and Odisha will extend all co-operation in the fight against Covid at the national level including ramping up oxygen production to assist other states in this emergency situation,” Naveen told Modi.
Naveen also spoke to Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and assured him all support from him. “Received a call from Sh Naveen Patnaik Ji. He has assured complete support to Delhi in facilitating lifting of Delhi’s quota of oxygen from Odisha. He has put a special officer on the job. Thank u sooo much sir. Delhi is indeed grateful,” Kejriwal tweeted. ....

ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel to set up Rs 50,000 cr integrated unit in Odisha

The Government of Odisha and ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Limited signed an MoU today for setting up an integrated steel complex in Kendrapara District of the state for an investment of more than Rs 50,000 crore.
ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel is one of the largest steel makers of the world and combines the financial might of the LN Mittal Group including their international presence in the sector and the technological prowess and management strength of Nippon Steel, which is a Japanese company renowned in the world for its high-technology steel products.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and L N Mittal, Chairman of the Mittal Group. Prafulla Mallik, Minister Steel & Mines and Works and Atanu Sabyasachi Naik, MLA, Mahakalpara were also present. ....

Centre approves Odisha's proposal to reserve two iron ore blocks in favour of OMC | Bhubaneswar News

BHUBANESWAR: The Centre approved the proposal of the state government to reserve two iron ore blocks in favour of the Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC), a state PSU.
Informing it here on Thursday, Union minister of coal and mines Pralhad Joshi said the decision will expedite iron ore production in Odisha, boosting economy and employment opportunities in the state. The issue was also discussed during the meeting of the Union minister with chief minister Naveen Patnaik at Naveen Niwas here, said official sources.
Official sources in the state steel and mines department said Jilling-Langlotta and Guali iron ore blocks are reserved for OMC. Earlier, the Centre has already approved to reserve the Rengalbada iron ore block in favour of Odisha Mineral Exploration Corporation Limited (OMECL). ....
