63Moons Technologies has dragged Piramal Capital and Housing Finance to the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) for ascribing ‘₹1’ value to the assets or transactions of Dewan Housing Finance Corporation (DHFL) that, it says, have a recovery potential of more than ‘₹40,000 crore’.
DHFL, one of India’s largest housing finance companies, is in the midst of insolvency proceedings and Piramal’s Request for Resolution Plan (RFRP) to acquire the company was approved by the committee of creditors (COC) this year.

With DHFL buy, Piramal Capital to bring retail loan share to 75% from 11%

Piramal Capital plans to rapidly scale up the share of its retail loan book and bring down wholesale lending, part of the reason why it is acquiring Dewan Housing Finance.
Piramal’s total lending book as of now is around Rs 45,000 crore, in which retail is about Rs 5,000 crore, or just about 11 per cent. According to Jairam Sridharan, Chief Executive Officer, Piramal Retail Finance, the plan is to bring up the retail portion to the mid-40 per cent level by the end of this financial year. MUMBAI: Piramal Capital & Housing Finance is raising up to Rs 3,000 crore through an issue of bonds offering interest at 9.25% per annum. The issue comes at a time when the company has proposed to merge troubled home loan provider Dewan Housing Finance (DHFL) with itself.
The bonds are rated AA by CARE agency and come with the assurance that, should the rating fall by even one notch to AA-, the coupon rate would stand increased by 0.50%. For every notch of rating downgrade thereafter, the coupon would be increased by 0.50% per notch. If the long-term credit rating of the non-convertible debentures (NCDs) is downgraded to A- or below, the holders would reserve the right to recall the outstanding principal amo ....
