Elderly woman rescued after falling in freezing water at boat launch

Some high winds Thursday afternoon caused an elderly woman to stumble and fall into freezing cold water at Pointe Mouillee State Game Area boat launch in Rockwood, Mich.
A United States Border Patrol agent assigned to the Gibraltar Station jumped into the water and rescued the woman, said Kris Grogan, U.S. Customs and Border Protection public affairs officer. The officer on duty did not want any recognition for their work.
The incident took place around 2:20 p.m.
An older man who saw the incident attempted to help the woman, but also fell on the boat ramp due to high winds, Grogan said. The agent took the woman into a warm vehicle and then went back to assist to the older man as well. ....

DETROIT – Border Patrol agents rescued an elderly woman who fell into freezing water in Monroe County.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:20 p.m. on Feb. 25, when an agent on patrol at the Pointe Moulliee State Game Area boat launch noticed an older female stumble into freezing cold water due to high winds.
According to a news release, the agent immediately ran over to the female and entered the freezing water where he was able to carry the woman to safety. ....
