MAINZ - (red). Ein herrenloser Rucksack hat am Sonntag zur Verhaftung eines 24-jährigen Mannes geführt. Laut Polizeibericht hatten Angestellte der Deutschen Bahn den Rucksack in der S 8 auf der Strecke zwischen Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof und Hauptbahnhof Mainz gefunden und zum Bundespolizeirevier Mainz gebracht.
Die Polizisten durchsuchten den Rucksack, um die Personalien des Eigentümers zu ermitteln. Hierbei fanden die Beamten neben dem Ausweis auch 1,1 Gramm Marihuana. Sie überprüften daraufhin die Personalien im Ausweis und stießen auf zwei offene Haftbefehle der Staatsanwaltschaft Wiesbaden. Hierbei handelte es sich zum einen um eine Ersatzfreiheitsstrafe von 97 Tagen oder 970 Euro wegen Erschleichen von Leistungen und zum anderen um eine Ersatzfreiheitsstrafe von 64 Tagen oder 1920 Euro wegen Trunkenheit im Straßenve ....

Alstom wins $244m order for Coradia Continental regional trains

Alstom will supply 12 four-unit and 20 five-unit Coradia Continental trains to Germany.

German transport company Hessische Landesbahn (HLB) has placed an order with Alstom for the delivery of 32 Coradia Continental electric multiple units.
Carrying a value of nearly $244m (€200m), the order includes 12 four-unit and 20 five-unit trains.
From December 2023, these trains will commence services on the Central Hesse subnetwork run by HLB.
The new rail units will run on Line RB37, Kirchain to Frankfurt Central Station through Marburg and Giessen; and on Line RB40, Dillenburg to Frankfurt Central Station through Gießen.
They will also operate on Line RB49 from Giessen to Hanau Central Station through Freidburg; as well as on Line RB41 from Schwalmstadt to Frankfurt Central Station through Treysa and Giessen. ....

BERLIN, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) Deutsche Bahn (DB) is testing an autonomous cleaning machine at Frankfurt am Main central station, the German state-owned railway company said on Friday.
The robot, built by the Berlin-based startup Spring Mobility, can sweep floor surfaces and neutralize viruses using ozonated water, according to DB. A natural disinfectant, ozonated water is known to be highly effective in combating coronaviruses and bacteria.
Clean stations make a significant contribution to the well-being of all travelers and guests, said Leif Niklas Wulf, manager at Frankfurt Central Station, in a statement. With the robot, we are testing an innovative way to support and relieve our cleaning staff. ....
