CFBX radio celebrates 20 years on the air

The man who built the station from the ground up will also soon be retiring.
Brant Zwicker was there when the switch was flipped on the radio station s modest five-watt transmitter, but preparation was underway long before that day.
In 1997, the University College of the Cariboo the school did not become TRU until 2005 held a referendum to add a new student fee to fund the radio station. Zwicker recalls strong support, with 88 per cent voting in favour of the new fee.
The next step was to find a manager for the station and Zwicker found himself in a good position for the job. ....

Fourth CFBX record fair spins success

Vinyl, cassette tapes, posters and shirts were up for grabs Sunday as radio station CFBX held its most successful record fair to date, attracting vendors from out of the province.
It s the best year we ve ever had, said station manager Brant Zwicker.
At least 30 tables heaped with music in a variety of forms and accompanying merchandise took over the Terrace cafeteria in the Campus Activity Centre at Thompson Rivers University.
The event is a fundraiser for the eclectic campus/community radio station that operates out of House 8 at TRU, with money raised through the $2-entry fee and table rentals at $25 a pop. ....
