Smart system to help manage trucks at oil depots

Oil transporters will have to book in advance their trucks for entry and loading at oil installations as the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) starts rolling out the eFuels Project under the Regional Electronic Cargo Tracking System (RECTS) this month.
Commissioner of Customs and Border Control Lilian Nyawanda notified petroleum stakeholders that the rollout of the eFuels Project will commence at the Eldoret Kenya Pipeline Depot before a gradual implementation in other oil installations. The system will eventually be rolled out at all customs release points.

Finland government, TMEA ink €10.5 million deal to support regional trade

A financial agreement worth €10.5 million between the Government of Finland and TradeMark East Africa (TMEA) has been signed.
The Government of Finland, represented by its Ambassador to Kenya H.E. Erik Lundberg, reiterated its commitment to supporting regional trade and the fight against COVID-19 pandemic in the East African region.
The event was officiated by Kenya’s Ministry of East Africa and Regional Development Principal Secretary Dr. Kevit Desai and witnessed by TMEA Board Chair Amb. Erastus Mwencha, TMEA CEO Mr. Frank Matsaert and TMEA Country Director Mr. Ahmed Farah.
Through this new Finnish funding, TMEA will scale up support to governments to adopt ICT for Trade systems in key trade agencies that contribute to the successful implementation of National Single Windows. TMEA has laid frameworks and forged partnerships to support multimodal transport corridors which not only reduce costs associated with trade, but also reduce the carbon footprint of transpor ....

Regional balance of trade improved in the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, with lower imports, as Kenya’s manufactured products and demand for Tanzanian minerals held up the economies.
According to a report by the United Nations Economic for Africa (Uneca) and Trade Mark East Africa (TMEA) released Wednesday, Kenya registered an increase in exports of manufactured products, especially non-food industrial supplies and machinery and other capital equipment while demand for Tanzanian gold increased by 33.6 per cent between January and November. ....

COVID Response
WFP continues to complement the Government of Kenya’s response to the COVID-19 situation. In October 2020, WFP expanded its cash-based COVID-19 response in Mombasa in collaboration with Mombasa County and the National Government targeting 96,000 residents from low-income areas who had not yet been targeted by the Government or other humanitarian partners with cash transfers and nutritional support. Training of health workers in nutrition and commodity management was completed and the first disbursement of the cash transfers completed. ....
