CEC pats Assam for high electoral gender ratio | Guwahati News

GUWAHATI: Assam’s women voters are just inches away from equaling their male counterparts in the electoral roll, a feat that has earned a big pat from the chief election commission of India himself.
The fresh electoral roll published on Monday has 1,13,55,79 female voters which is 49.30% of the total electorate size of 2,29,92,505. In terms of the gender ratio, the state has 972 female voters per thousand male voters, which is way above the national gender ratio.
Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora after reviewing the state’s preparedness for the coming assembly election on Wednesday said, “I am happy to note and I must congratulate the citizenry of Assam that the electoral gender ratio is as high as 972 in Assam when the overall ratio in other states is 954.” ....
