Patrons and fisherfolk are being advised that the Bridgetown Fish Market will be closed for the remainder of this week.
The closure comes after officials were informed of two positive COVID-19 cases. All staff and personnel from the Bridgetown complex have been advised to get tested.
The City facility will also undergo thorough sanitization.
The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and the Blue Economy will continue to practice the safe protocols that were implemented at all markets from the beginning of this year.
Staff and patrons are advised to follow the directions and advice of the COVID monitors that are assigned to each market. ....

Bridgetown Fish Market reopens

The Bridgetown Fish market reopened yesterday though ash and dust remained an issue.
The fisheries complex was closed April 10 due to the ashfall as a result of the erupting La Soufriere volcano in St Vincent.
Senior manager of markets Eric Lewis said they were strict protocols in place.
“We are asking the vendors to keep their fish covered and we are also asking they only work on one at a time. Vendors are also asked to keep cleaning their work spaces,” he said. ....

The Bridgetown Fish Market will resume operations on Tuesday, April 20, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and the Blue Economy (MMABE) has advised.
Additionally, the Paynes Bay Fish Market will remain closed until further notice.
The Ministry however said that other fish markets across the island will reopen on Monday.
The markets will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays.
Revised protocols will be in place to ensure proper safety standards are observed in the markets and the Ministry is urging the public and fisherfolk to continue practising all COVID-19 protocols as directed. ....
