School board applies for technology loan

LIGONIER â West Noble School Corporation will apply for a Common School Loan to upgrade its technology. School board members agreed to the application at Mondayâs meeting.
Technology director Mike Burke said that three phases of infrastructure improvements will happen if the loan application is approved. An aging main server in the data center will be replaced at an estimated cost of $59,000; 70 desktop computers at West Noble Middle School will be replaced at an estimated cost of $913 each; and new Chromebooks with licensing fees will be purchased for all 180 teachers at an estimated Cost of $80,000.
Schools may apply for a Common School Loan twice a year, and may receive funds equal to $100 per student. There is no guarantee that the districtâs application would be approved. Superintendent Galen Mast said West Noble has received a Common School Loan twice. ....

Brenda Patrick described the house as smelling due to the rotten wood and said her husband had experienced breathing difficulties due to the damp, mouldy living conditions.

An Auckland landlord has been ordered to pay their tenants $6000 after failing to repair a mouldy, water-damaged rental home for two years.
The decision comes after tenants Brenda and Cyprian Patrick took their landlord to the Tenancy Tribunal in 2018 over maintenance issues at the south Auckland property including a broken gutter and spouting on the garage, a broken window and mould in the bathroom and kitchen.
The Patricks then complained again in 2020 claiming some of the damage had not been fixed and gave their landlord a 14-day notice to carry out the repairs in October. Lulu Wang has owned the property since 2015, according to property records. ....
