OGDCL profit down 20pc to Rs24.120bln in Q3

KARACHI: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) profit declined 20 percent to Rs24.120 billion in the quarter ended March 31, 2021, translating into earnings per share (EPS) of Rs5.61, a bourse filing said on Tuesday.
The company earned Rs30.010 billion with EPS of Rs6.98 during the same period last year. The company announced third interim cash dividend at Rs1.80/share in addition to earlier interim dividends of Rs3.60/share.
OGDCL’s nine month profit in fiscal year 2020-2021 declined 20 percent to Rs66.346 billion compared to Rs83.122 billion in the same period last fiscal. The EPS in 9MFY21 was Rs15.43 compared to Rs19.33 in the same period of FY20. ....

Stocks on Wednesday kicked off with a good gap-up, aiming high, but late exits rolled back early gains as the third Covid wave continues to build up in the country, dealers said.
A Topline Securities commentary said equities closed slightly positive and benchmark KSE-100 Shares Index gained 0.22 percent or 96.82 points to close at 44,587 points.
Day-on-day, total traded volume increased 31 percent to 443 million shares and value 25 percent to Rs25.91 billion.
Pakistan raised $2.5 billion through bond deal on Tuesday which led the market to open with a gap-up with the index make an intraday high of 642 points, the brokerage said. ....

FBR awaits order for Rs1.6bln recovery from tobacco company

KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is waiting for a judgment of the appellate tribunal for the tax recovery of around Rs1.6 billion from a tobacco company, sources in the Large Taxpayers Office Karachi said on Wednesday.
For the last two years, a case of alleged evasion of sales tax and federal excise duty amounting Rs2 billion has been lying pending at the tribunal against Philip Morris (Pakistan) Limited.
The sources said the tax office recovered sales tax amount around Rs400 million out of Rs2 billion.
The sources said there was no progress in the case as the tribunal had summoned the officer who drafted the recovery notice against the company. “The officer who drafted the order has been transferred to another department on deputation,” a LTO Karachi officer said on condition of anonymity. ....
