House OKs bill seeking permanent validity of birth, death, marriage certificates

The measure seeking the permanent validity of birth, death, and marriage certificates was passed on third and final reading at the House of Representatives on Wednesday.
House Bill 9175 or the proposed Permanent Validity of the Certificates of Live Birth, Death, and Marriage Act obtained 199 affirmative votes.
The bill mandates the permanent validity of the certificates of live birth, death, and marriage issued, signed, certified, or authenticated by the Philippine Statistics Authority and the National Statistics Office as well as those issued by local civil registries. ....

House bill on birth, death, marriage certificate validity hurdles 2nd reading

The House of Representatives on Tuesday approved on second reading the proposed measure providing a lifetime validity to live birth, death, and marriage certificates.
During the House session, the chamber passed House Bill 9175 or the Permanent Validity of Certificates of Live Birth, Death, and Marriage Act which seeks to promote efficiency by removing duplicitous processes and requirements on the issuance and use of the documents.
Certificates of live birth, death, and marriage issued, signed, certified and authenticated by PSA and its predecessor NSO, and local civil registries shall have permanent validity regardless of date of issuance and shall be recognized and accepted in all government or private transactions or services, read the measure. ....

155 stranded overseas Filipinos flown home from China

Despite closed borders and the lack of commercial flights available, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday night brought home 155 distressed overseas Filipinos from China, bringing the total number of Filipinos the agency has brought home from around the world since the pandemic started to 400,958.

The agency’s repatriation program is funded by its assistance-to-nationals (ATN) budget.
“Most of the recent arrivals were assisted with their overstaying fees in the country by the Philippine Embassy in Beijing and the various Philippine Consulates General in Chongqing, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Xiamen,” DFA said in a statement Saturday, May 15. ....

CSC encourages honor graduates to apply for eligibility

The CSC said the eligibility may be used to vie for career positions in the government.
“The CSC grants the Honor Graduate Eligibility (HGE) to graduates of private higher education institutions in the Philippines from school year 1972-1973 and thereafter, with baccalaureate/bachelor’s degree recognized by the Commission on Higher Education, or state/local college or university with baccalaureate/bachelor’s degree included in its charter, or baccalaureate/bachelor’s degree duly approved by its Board of Trustees/Board of Regents,” it said in a statement.
It noted that CSC Resolution No. 1302714 was issued on Dec. 17, 2013 to expand the grant of eligibility and include honor graduates from foreign schools. ....
