BISHAM: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Labour and Culture Shaukat Ali Yousafzai on Saturday said that the future of the youth was bright, as the government had launched a number of projects for the growth and development of youth through science and technology-based education and training.
“The provincial government has taken revolutionary steps for the provision of better job and business opportunities to the skilled youth in the province,” the minister said this as chief guest at a ceremony arranged by the Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) here.
He said that peace in the province had been restored, which was now resulting in the growth of economic activities. He said that the confidence of investors was restored after peace and many investors were now coming to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to invest in various sectors. Shangla people demand jobs in power project - Newspaper

SHANGLA: The elders here have demanded of the government to ensure that the local people are given jobs and other rights in Karora hydropower project, which is likely to be completed in next few months.
Local elders of the district, particularly those of Kana and Alpuri tehsils, have announced to hold a jirga on January 25 for seeking rights from the government in the under-construction 11.80MW Karora hydropower project. The demands include jobs, royalty and cheap electricity for the local community.
Gulab Shahpuri, Asghar Khan, Sarfraz Khan and other elders from different tehsils of Shangla told mediapersons here the other day that they had called a jirga meeting on Jan 25 in Karora to finalise their charter of demands. ....

Disaster management body okays compensation - Newspaper

The committee held monthly meeting at the deputy commissioner’s office in Alpuri area here on Thursday.
Committee chairman and deputy commissioner Hamidur Rehman chaired the meeting, which was attended by the Shangla DPO, DEO (male), DHO, executive engineer, DDMA secretary Wajid Ali Khan.
In the meeting, 115 cases of compensation for various incidents in the district were presented for approval.
The committee approved seven cases of deaths and 62 of houses damages and sent rest of the cases to the relevant department for fresh verification.
DDMA secretary Wajid Ali told Dawn that compensation was sought for seven deaths in Shahpur, Manago and Bisham areas and one in Khyber Teaching Hospital due to oxygen shortage. He said the other compensation cases were about house damages and wall collapse incidents. ....

MANSEHRA/SHANGLA: Heavy snowfall in upper parts of Hazara division and Shangla blocked roads, including the Karakoram Highway, on Saturday.
While upper reaches of Mansehra, Torghar, Upper and Lower Kohistan and Kolai-Palas districts received snowfall, rain continued to lash the plains throughout Saturday starting on Friday evening.
The KKH was blocked in Sharkool and Chaterplan areas for over two hours after snowfall made the strategically important artery slippery.
The Kaghan, Siren and Konsh valleys in Mansehra district and Kandia and Spat valleys in Upper Kohistan received snowfall blocking many link roads. ....
