Man Convicted Of NSB Hate Crime Sentenced To Year In Jail

Daytona Beach, FL - Kyle Christiansen, a man recently convicted of a hate crime against a New Symrna Beach family, will spend the next year in jail, followed by an additional 3 years of house arrest and 7 years of probation. It was on June 8 that a Volusia County jury returned a guilty verdict for the 34-year-old Daytona Beach man who spray painted anti-Asian racial slurs on two vehicles and dropped nails in the driveway of the same home back in July 2020. Investigators found that Christiansen’s vandalism cost the family around $5,000 in damages. According to a press release from the State Attorney’s Office, Christiansen was sentenced to 364 days in the Volusia County Branch Jail. Following his release, he will then remain under house arrest for 3 years and will spend the next 7 years under probation.   ....

Bulldogs fall short to Pedro Menendez | Palm Coast Observer


Fresh off of winter break, Flagler Palm Coast boys soccer hosted Pedro Menendez on Jan. 7 in a tough game that saw the Bulldogs fall 5-2. FPC’s two goals were scored by Zach Hassell and Joseph Schmidt, both during the first half.
A look at the Bulldogs’ 2020-21 campaign shows the team with 5 wins, 7 losses and 1 tie (1-1-1 in the Class 7A-District 1, fourth place). The team’s last victory was against in-town rival Matanzas on Dec. 11 (2-0), and their only tie of the season was against Nease on Dec. 15 (1-1).
With a few weeks of the season left, FPC is scheduled to compete against the likes of New Smyrna Beach, Oakleaf, University and again, rival Matanzas on Jan. 22. ....

Bulldogs defeat Pirates 3-1 | Palm Coast Observer


The girls soccer teams of Flagler Palm Coast and Matanzas high schools went head-to-head on Dec. 18. The afternoon game that drifted into the early evening saw the Bulldogs emerge triumphant, winning the game over the Pirates in a score 3-1. FPC fired off their first two goals during the first half as did Matanzas their first and only of the game. FPC would score once more in the second half.
Both team will not see action until January. FPC is next scheduled to play New Symrna Beach at home on Jan. 5. Matanzas will also play at home that day, hosting St. Joseph Academy. ....
