Editorial: The changing face of downtown Estevan

People who attend can look forward to live music and food trucks, in addition to the assortment of vendors you’d expect at an outdoor market.
We praised the idea when it was brought forward in early March of last year. Unfortunately, COVID forced the plans to be delayed until this year.
And while this damn pandemic is far from over, the Downtown Business Association is confident that they can pull off this idea safely, in much the same way that the Estevan Farmers’ Market held their outdoor markets last year without issue. (We’re confident in the Farmers’ Market’s ability to hold markets safely this year, too, starting May 8).   ....

EPS members made arrests for impaired driving, assault and more last week

Police were called to a disturbance in a parking lot in the 800-block of Fourth Street. As a result of the investigation, a 42-year-old man was arrested and charged with uttering threats, causing a disturbance and assault. He was lodged in cells and subsequently released on conditions in front of a justice of the peace.
Officers are investigating a hit and run collision reported to have occurred in the 700-block of Third Street during the day on April 15. The matter is still under investigation.
Police are investigating a hit and run collision that occurred in the Pleasantdale area on April 14. A vehicle parked on the roadway near the intersection of Nicholson Road and Hudson Road was hit by an offending vehicle. The suspect vehicle has been identified as a silver or light grey Dodge Ram Sport Edition and is believed to be in the range of a 2012-2016 model. There will be significant damage to the right front passenger side of the truck as a result of the collision. ....

Pathway network would be a real boost

This would not only benefit the existing pathways in the community, but it would allow for the construction of other pathways in Estevan that would finally connect the city.
This has long been a desire for many, although it has often been shuffled to the side amid the myriad of other needs in the community.
We’re lucky enough to have some very nice pathways in some very attractive areas of Estevan. There’s a great walk to be had through the Churchill Playpark, past the Cactus Park ball diamonds and soccer pitches, and then back through the Westview subdivision. ....
