Mulwaree River Walkway unlocks new trails


Goulburn Mulwaree Council
New walking trails will be ready to explore in just a few weeks, with work underway on the river walkway link from Lower Sterne Street in Eastgrove through to Cemetery Street.
This new part of the network is fully funded by Goulburn Mulwaree Council, and will be 1.5km length when completed by the end of June this year. Running along the Mulwaree River, it has been anecdotally named the Mulwaree River Walkway.
“This area of Goulburn is just another gem waiting to be discovered, and I think many residents will be pleasantly surprised when the project is complete” said Mayor Bob Kirk. ....

The projects include $178,000 for additional mobile firefighting equipment in Bundaberg, $132,000 for a 2.5km upgrade of walking tracks in Joseph Banks Conservation Park and $1,612,000 replacement of Timber Bridge on Bindaree Road in Miriam Vale.

Tuesday s announcement builds on other Local Economic Recovery projects in Flynn supported through earlier funding rounds.
This includes $185,000 to employ a project officer in Gladstone to ensure community members are provided sufficient information and resources to enhance their disaster resilience.

Major coast road upgrade revealed as part of fire recovery

Byfield National Park will be more resilient to future bushfires after receiving a $495,000 boost, as part of $10.7 million in bushfire recovery projects announced Friday by the Australian and Queensland governments.
In 2019, the Cobraball bushfire burnt across the Capricorn Coast, engulfing 12,100 hectares of land including 15 homes, 38 sheds, 8,500 hectares of grazing land and 275 hectares of horticultural production land.
Federal Member for Capricornia Michelle Landry said the fourth and final round of Local Economic Recovery projects was a joint investment of $36.8 million to support recovery in Queensland communities hit hard by the 2019-20 bushfires.
Ms Landry said the 21 projects funded across Queensland included an exciting project in Capricornia. ....
