CHITRAL: The office-bearers of Lady Health Workers Association and all employees of Lady Health Workers Programme on Tuesday threatened to go on strike and boycott polio and Covid-19 vaccination duties if the government did not meet their demands till the first week of August.
Speaking at an emergency meeting of Lady Health Workers Association and Coordination Council held at Town Area in Booni, LHWA president Bibi Aasia, general secretary Harira Bibi, press secretary Saadia Mansoor and others alleged that government was meting out a step-motherly treatment to the health workers by not fulfilling their genuine demands. ....

Islamabad: An international mission comprising eight partners for the Global Action Plan for Health and Wellbeing reaffirmed its commitment to support Pakistan’s efforts towards achieving Universal Health Care (UHC) by focusing on the Primary Health Care (PHC) approach under the Regional Health Alliance (RHA) here on Friday.
Participants at the five-day consultation (March 1-5, 2021) analyzed their strategic collaboration and discussed ways to achieve the highest attainable standards of health in Pakistan in line with the WHO Constitution. The consultations were attended by all the stakeholders, who were joined by provincial health department representatives in person and through web link. ....

ISLAMABAD: World Health Organization (WHO) Country Representative in Pakistan Dr Palitha Mahipala has reaffirmed support for strengthening primary healthcare in Pakistan.Addressing a press conference, he appreciated the government of Pakistan for the various steps taken to improve the health status of the population. He particularly mentioned the expansion in coverage of the Sehat Sahulat (Health Insurance) Programme which will be instrumental in decreasing the financial burden on the poor. He said: “I am confident that these recommendations will facilitate the government in developing strategies and plans for strengthening PHC services and securing sustainable financing to achieve the UHC and implementation of a recently-endorsed UHC benefit package.” ....
