The case of six Perak Matriculation College students in Gopeng that went viral after they were issued compounds for not wearing face masks has been solved, Perak Health, Environment and Green Technology Committee chairperson Mohd Akmal Kamaruddin said.
He said the state government met with the college, the Kampar  District Health Office and the Perak Health Department recently and decided the students did not have to pay the compounds.

IPOH: The six matriculation students who were issued compounds for failing to adhere to the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) will not be compounded, says Mohd Akmal Kamaruddin.
The Perak Health Committee chairman said the decision was made after the students appealed and discussions were carried out with the state health department.
During a meeting with the Kampar health officer and the Perak Health department director, we decided not to compound the students, and the case has been declared closed.
The students are from poor families. Therefore, we believed that this is the best decision as it won t burden them, he told reporters during his visit to the Selama health clinic Tuesday (Apr 27). ....

LARUT: The case of six Perak Matriculation College students in Gopeng which went viral after they were issued compounds for not wearing face masks has been solved, said Perak Health, Environment and Green Technology Committee chairman, Mohd Akmal Kamaruddin.
He said the state government had held a meeting with the college, Kampar Health Department and Perak Health Department recently and had decided that the students did not have to pay the compounds.
‘’The case was settled and the students did not have to pay a single sen on the compounds imposed on them. So, they don’t have to worry.I also met with the father of one of the students and told him that the case has been settled. ....

IPOH: Six students of Perak Matriculation College who were compounded RM1,500 for not wearing a face mask two days ago have had their compounds reduced on appeal, said Perak Health director Datuk Dr Ding Lay Ming (pix).
She said a meeting was held with the college management and students at a nearby District Health Office yesterday, during which the students submitted their appeals and a lower compound was issued based on existing procedures.
“However, the college management made an appeal for a further reduction on grounds that the students cannot afford to pay the amount of compound imposed,” she said in a statement today. ....
