ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Mich. — A suspect was finally apprehended fleeing in a cornfield after a police pursuit through two states Friday night.
It all began at 7:58 p.m. when the chase began in Elkhart County, Ind., and then crossed the state line into St. Joseph County. The White Pigeon Police Department and Constantine Police Department engaged the vehicle in the area of Riverside Drive and Blue School Road.
First Constantine Police and then later St. Joseph County sheriff s deputies successfully deployed stop sticks, leaving the vehicle driving on two rims.
The vehicle continued eastbound through Centreville and onto M-86 through Nottawa and later onto Lepley Road, where it nearly struck a police car head-on. At that time the fleeing vehicle left the roadway, entered a ditch and then a cornfield, where it came to a halt and the driver fled on foot. ....
