Wanda Cash Presidential Scholarship deadline is May 12
The Taylor County Historical Society is accepting applications for the second annual Wanda Cash Presidential Scholarship, named in honor of its longest-serving president, the late Wanda Cash.
The $1,000 scholarship is being sponsored by the historical society and the Cash family.
Applications for the “Wanda Cash Presidential Scholarship” are available online at the society’s Facebook page and at the offices of Perry Newspapers, as well guidance offices at the high school and Point of Grace.
The scholarship is open to all graduating Taylor County seniors. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, May 12.
Cash served as president of the historical society from 2000 to 2014 and was instrumental in the publication of the popular “Cash Writings of Taylor County” by W.T. Cash. ....

‘No Show’ jurors face contempt charge
County Judge Bill Blue is providing fair warning that those who may be tempted to ignore jury summons could face potential “adverse action,” after 38 prospective jurors failed to appear for duty last Friday.
In a letter to Perry Newspapers, Blue said that those summoned for jury duty who fail to appear without being excused may be held in contempt of court if they cannot show cause.
